Bug Fixes

• General issues
  • Sometimes the glasss job page wasn't loading properly, keeping the user in front of an infinite spinner loading.

New Features

• User interface
  • The whole application has a new look: a new graphic theme for the public pages (Home, GLASSShopper, Pricing, About Us), the navigation bar, the GLASSS tools, the workspace and the account and organization settings.
  • The sidebar shows the folder tree of the workspace under All files: expand a folder to see its contents and click a file to open it.
  • The Home and GLASSShopper pages have a Keep me updated button that opens the newsletter sign-up form.
• Organization and account
  • When registering, the company email must be verified with the 6-digit code sent to it.
  • In the Organization page, the organization email is changed with the Change button: a 6-digit code, valid for 30 minutes, is sent to the new address, and the change takes effect once the code is confirmed. An organization email not yet verified can be verified from the same page. The previous address receives a notice of the change.
  • When the email of an account is changed, the previous address receives a notice of the change.
• Newsletter
  • The newsletter can be subscribed to when registering or accepting an invitation, and turned on or off at any time in the Newsletter section of the Profile page.
  • Every newsletter contains a link to unsubscribe, which asks for confirmation, and can also be unsubscribed from with the unsubscribe button of the mail program.
• EN 19100 standard
  • Added the European standard EN 19100 (Eurocode 10), with its verification options: the consequence class (CC1, CC2 or CC3), which sets the default partial factors γ_M and γ_P for the fundamental and accidental combinations, the size effect factors λ_A and λ_l, common to all panes, and the characteristic strength f_g,k of each pane, based on its glass type, surface treatment, prestress type, manufacturing process and edge type. The Combinations without favorable option is available in the Loads tab.
  • With EN 19100 the structural analysis always uses the nominal thickness, and the Thickness type can no longer be changed.
  • The checks of the static, dynamic and thermal analyses and the report support EN 19100.
• Dynamic analysis
  • Added the Loads During the Impact section to the Impactor tab: the static loads acting during the impact, as an accidental combination, from whose equilibrium the dynamic analysis starts. The coefficients are generated from the loads (permanent actions 1.0, wind as leading action with ψ₁, the other variable actions with ψ₂), and can be modified by switching on Custom.
• Thermal analysis
  • Added the Download Timelapse As GIF button to the Temperature Timelapse tab, which saves an animated GIF of the temperature evolution in the selected pane, with the time of each frame.
  • Added the Loads Acting with the Temperatures section to the Thermal tab: the static loads acting together with the temperatures, as an accidental combination, considered in every time step. As for the impact, the coefficients are generated from the loads and can be modified by switching on Custom.
  • Added the Reference (stress free) temperature, at which the glass has no thermal stresses (20 °C by default).
• Report
  • Added the isometric top view of the glass to the geometry section of the report, next to the curvature view.

Improvements

• Navigation improvements
  • The Docs menu of the navigation bar groups Documentation and Changelog; a switch at the top of these pages moves between GLASSS and GLASSShopper.
  • The account and organization settings menu is always visible on mobile, and the buttons of the guided tour wrap on narrow screens.
  • Buttons showing only an icon now have a tooltip.
  • In Switch Organizations, the organizations where the user's account has been disabled are greyed out and can no longer be selected.
• Workspace improvements
  • A new glass check is opened as soon as it is created.
  • A file or folder now opens with a single click, and all its actions (Open, Copy, Move, Rename, Download, Delete) are in the ⋮ menu at the end of its row.
• Supports improvements
  • The glass view of the Supports tab now shows the global X, Y, Z axes, and is larger on wide screens.
• Thermal analysis improvements
  • The values of the shadow box are now checked when saving: Distance, Shadow Box Thickness and Insulation Thickness must be at least 1, and out-of-range values are rejected.
• Analysis improvements
  • Updated the analysis solver.
  • In the check options and results, panes and surfaces are numbered across the whole glass, as in the section view (pane n has surfaces 2n-1 and 2n), instead of by package and pane. The Deflection limit is now next to the coefficients of each standard.
  • The tooltips with the reference tables of the standards are larger.
  • Input data can no longer be edited while an analysis is running.
  • The selection checkbox is now the first column of the combinations table.
  • The labels of the minimum and maximum values in the history charts also show their time.
• Email improvements
  • All emails have a new, uniform layout, with buttons instead of plain links and the support contact in the footer.
  • Emails now refer to subscriptions and organizations by name.
• Account and subscriptions improvements
  • In the Profile page, the other changes are saved right away when the phone number is changed, while the new number waits for the confirmation code. The phone number can be changed but no longer removed.
  • In the Subscriptions History, switching between billing intervals is now shown as Upgrade or Downgrade.
  • The warning icon of subscriptions that won't be renewed now reads Will not renew.
  • The subscription details show the plan limits and the limits of each tool in separate tables.

Bug Fixes

• Analysis issues
  • Fixed the misspelled labels of the Temperature History and Temperature Timelapse tabs.
  • Fixed supports placed by clicking near the edge of the glass ending up outside of it.
  • Fixed input values being considered changed after switching the unit system.
  • Fixed an error message shown after cancelling the mesh build.
  • Fixed the pane numbers in the section view.
  • Fixed the sealant being drawn on the wrong side of the edge in the glass view for some shapes.

• Workspace issues
  • Fixed the deletion of folders containing subfolders.
  • A folder can no longer be moved inside one of its own subfolders.
  • Fixed the folder tree showing outdated folders or names after moving or renaming a folder.
• Subscriptions issues
  • Fixed automatically renewed subscriptions being shown as Expiring in their last week, and not being cancellable.
  • Upgrading a cancelled subscription now turns its automatic renewal back on.
  • A scheduled plan change is no longer lost when the subscription is cancelled and then resumed.
  • Fixed duplicate purchases when two members bought the same product at the same time. A product can no longer be purchased again while its subscription is suspended.
  • Fixed plan limits sometimes being taken from an expired previous subscription.
• Organization and account issues
  • Disabling a member now removes their product enablements and frees their seats.
  • Fixed accepting an invitation when the email differs only in upper/lower case. Invitations already accepted, declined or revoked can no longer be answered again.
  • The members page now shows an error when inviting a member or changing a role fails, and correctly detects people already invited or already members.
  • Inactive owners and administrators can no longer manage the organization.
  • Archive all in the notifications now archives the notifications already read too.
  • Changing the phone number no longer signs the user out.
  • Fixed a failed account deletion leaving part of the data behind.

Changes

• Thermal analysis changes
  • The minimum Time Step of the thermal analysis is now 1200 seconds, which is also the new default (previously 600 seconds).
• Dynamic and thermal analysis changes
  • The impact and thermal analyses now include the static loads acting during them, as an accidental combination, so their results can differ from those of the previous versions.
• Workspace changes
  • Multiple selection in the workspace, with bulk move and delete, has been removed.
  • Downloaded projects now contain only the input data, without the mesh and the results: after uploading a project, run the analysis again to get its results.
• Loads changes
  • The EN 16612 option of the Loads tab now reads Combinations in consequence class 0 (CC0), otherwise CC2, instead of CC1.
• Usage limits changes
  • The hourly and daily calculation limits now apply to each enabled member as defined by the plan, and are no longer multiplied by the number of licences.
  • The daily limit is shared by all the tools of the product, and resets at midnight UTC.
• Email changes
  • Emails are now sent from apps-noreply@maffeis.it and newsletters from apps-newsletter@maffeis.it. For support, write to apps-support@maffeis.it.
• Legal changes
  • The GLASSShopper terms are now part of the Terms of Use, in a dedicated article; the old GLASSShopper terms page redirects to it.
  • The Privacy Policy has been updater.

New Features

• Dynamic analysis
  • Added the new Impactor tab, from which it's possible to set up and launch a dynamic analysis of the glass, simulating a sudden impact on it. The feature is available with the GLASSS Pro plan.
  • The impact is defined by its position on the glass, the impacted side (inside/outside), the impactor type (EN 12600 twin tyre or sphere, with its radius), the drop height, the mass and the stiffness of the impactor, the time step length and the total number of steps.
  • The shear modulus G of the interlayers can be set for each dynamic combination, and recomputed from the glazing temperature with the Update G button.
  • Results are shown as history charts (maximum deformation, maximum tensile stress and impactor spring force over time), as displacement and stress contour plots at the peak instant for each surface, and as stress and displacement checks for each combination and pane. Checks are available for the EN 16612 standard.
  • Input data, results, peak plots, checks and conclusions of the dynamic analysis are added to the report, together with the ones of the static analysis.
• Thermal analysis
  • Added the new Thermal tab, from which it's possible to set up and launch a thermal shock analysis of the glass, predicting possible temperature-induced cracking. The feature is available with the GLASSS Pro plan.
  • The analysis is defined by the location (latitude and longitude), date, elevation above sea level, ground albedo, wind speed, orientation of the glass (Rotation Z), minimum and maximum internal and external temperatures and the time step.
  • It's possible to assign a coating to each glass surface (none, single, double or triple silver layer), to choose which edges are exposed, to draw polygonal shadows on the glass and to place an aluminium shadow box with its insulation properties.
  • At the end of the thermal analysis, a static analysis is automatically run to compute the resulting stresses.
  • Results are shown as minimum and maximum temperature histories for each pane, maximum tensile stress history and stress contour plots at the peak instant. A timelapse of the temperature evolution in each pane can also be generated.
  • Input data (coatings, shadows, exposed edges, shadow box) and results of the thermal analysis are added to the report.
• DIN 18008 standard
  • Added the German standard DIN 18008, with its verification options (γ_M and k_c for annealed and thermally toughened glass, simple linear support assumption), the characteristic strength f_k for each pane based on its prestress type, the combinations without favorable loads and the DIN climate loads.
• Imposed displacement points
  • Added the Imposed Displacement Point support, which imposes a displacement along Z' in any point of the glass, in the global or local reference system (cold bending). The feature is available with the GLASSS Pro plan.
  • Imposed displacement points are included in the mesh and in the report.
• Organization management
  • Added the Organization area, reachable from the account menu by the organization owners and administrators. It gathers the organization data, logo and members (previously in the account management) together with subscriptions, enablements, subscriptions history, payments and invoices.
  • The members page shows whether each member has an active web or API (GLASSShopper) session, and allows to force their logout.
  • From the Enablements page it's possible to choose which members of the organization use the seats of each product.
• Subscriptions and payments
  • Plans can now be purchased and changed directly from the application, choosing the billing interval and the quantity.
  • Upgrades are applied immediately and charged prorated, while downgrades are applied at the next renewal. A scheduled change can be canceled before it takes effect.
  • Subscriptions are automatically renewed. They can be cancelled and the payment method can be updated from the subscription's details page.
  • Added the payments history, the invoices (downloadable as PDF) and the subscriptions history of each product.
  • Added notifications about renewals, expirations, cancellations, plan changes and upcoming price changes.
• Account improvements
  • Added the Preferences page to the account management, from which the "Don't ask me again" choices can be reset.
  • The job can now be automatically saved before running an analysis and/or after it completes successfully.

• General improvements
  • Reports generated with the commercial plans (Base and Pro) carry the organization logo and no longer have the Maffeis watermark.
  • The usage limits of each plan are listed in the subscription details.
  • All the plan limits are now checked before launching an analysis, an inference or a report.
  • Aborted analyses no longer count towards the usage limits.
  • Newsletters now include an unsubscribe link.
  • The page is automatically reloaded when the connection with the server is lost.

  • Fixed projects saved before the introduction of the combinations selection being opened with no combination selected, and therefore without results.

  • Fixed the radius of curvature not being able to return to 0 (flat glass).
  • Fixed the mesh preview not being updated after changing the orientation or the rotation of the glass.

Changes

• Session changes
  • Each account can now have only one active web session and one active GLASSShopper session at a time. Signing in elsewhere is refused until the session is released, by logging out or after about 3 minutes of inactivity (web page/GLASSShopper closed).
  • When a session is ended by an administrator, the user is redirected to the login page.
• Plans changes
  • The curvature of the glass is no longer available with the Free plan.
  • Imposed displacement points (cold bending) are available with the Pro and Students plans.
  • The limit on point fixings now counts point fixings and holes together.
  • A daily limit of calculations is applied according to the plan.

  • Now the it's no more possible to trigger the visibility and rebuilding of the mesh while the analysis is running, in order to prevent discrepancies bethween the mesh and the analysis results.

  • Added notification system inside the application:
    • Notifications alert you when there are updates, when your subscription is about to expire, when your subscription is renewed, and other various communications.
    • Notifications are listed in the pop-up that appears when you click on the bell, which will eventually have a small number on its side to indicate the number of unread notifications.
    • Clicking on a notification opens it, showing its content and its metadata.
    • By showing all notifications, the Notifications page will be opened, where the user can see the list of all the notifications it received and can filter them.
    • The notifications system has been integrated with all the applications aspects, like accepted/rejected invites, expiring subscriptions, etc...
  • Added limitations list inside the details section of the organization subscription page.
• Mesh improvements
  • Improved policies used to invalidate the mesh (now many changes that don’t impact on the mesh won’t invalidate it no more).
• Options improvements
  • A new version of the ASTM E1300 standard has been added. Now the available standards are: EN 16612 (UE), ASTM E1300-16 (USA), ASTM E1300-24 (USA).
• Checks improvements
  • Now, if all combinations used in the analysis have the Usage property set to Unused, the page it will no longer be empty, but will have a text to warn about that.

  • Now the registration button in the pricing card will no longer appear while logged in.

  • Now when the organization name is changed, the account data in the navbar will be updated immediately to reflect the change (instead of needing for the page to be reloaded).

• Workspace issues
  • Corrected an issue that was preventing folder to be moved to other locations.
• Mesh issues
  • Fixed a bug that caused the application to retain the old mesh if the mesh calculation operation failed.
  • To avoid misalignment in the saves and improve performances, it will no more possible to toggle mesh view or save the project while the mesh is generating.
• Geometry issues
  • Implemented check on curvature radius to ensure that its minimum absolute value is respected when the glass shape change, which was missing.
  • Added a check to prevent the possibility of having a glass shape with two overlapping points.
• Loads issues
  • Now the analysis results are invalidated on shear (G) values update.
  • The popup used to ask confirmation before deleting a combination now saves correctly the user preference when the "Don't ask again" checkbox is toggled.
  • Solved an issue which was causing some SLS combinations to have Pressure and Temperature values set to 0 instead of 1.
• Solver issues
  • Implemented a check to solve an issue that in some cases was preventing some restrains to be detected by the solver, which was producing wrong results for those job cases.

  • Fixed some issues with some graphical elements rendering and UI components, which were causing unhandled exceptions and low graphical performance under specific conditions.
  • Added checks to prevent user from accessing to some pages when unauthorized.

Changes

• Organization Management and User changes
  • The owner of an organization is now able to add new members to his organization from the Members page in the Profile section.
  • Organization's members handling (done by the organization's owner):
    • To add new members, the owner can send an invitation providing his email address. The invitation can be revoked at any time before it's accepted, and it will be necessary to renew it to make it valid again.
    • Each member can be disabled to prevent him from accessing the organization workspace. The user affected by this action will receive a notification at his email address. The owner can then enable the user again at any time.
    • Each member can be removed from the organization. The user affected by this action will receive a notification at his email address. To reintroduce the user in the organization, the owner will have to send him a new invitation.
  • A user can be included in multiple organizations. He can switch between them by opening the account panel on the top-right part of the window.
  • Added organization's type field.

  • Instead of selecting a predefined shape, now the to create the glass shape the user must insert the number of vertex (3 to 50) of the shape.

Bug Fixes

• Measure Units issues
  • Added conversion from millimetres to inches of the Displacements values in the analysis results when the Imperial measure system is selected.
  • Now all the min/max bounds and step of dimensional fields consider the selected unit system.
• Mesh issues
  • Changing the hole mesh size now correctly triggers the mesh recalculation.
  • Corrected an issue with the mesh segment division because of which applying a barrier load to the glass may have produced a wrong mesh.
• Archive issues
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing the export of the archive files or in some cases was preventing the printing of many table columns in the exported file.
• Geometry issues
  • Added default value for seal supports width.
  • It was previously possible to place supports outside the glass surface by changing the position of the glass shape's points manually, causing model instability errors during the analysis. Now, when the position of the shape points is changed, if one or more supports positions violate the new perimeters, a popup will appear to ask the user confirmation for applying the change, causing the deletion of these supports. This also occurs when the Change Shape button is used.
• Supports issues
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing to select a support if another one was already selected.
  • Fixed a bug which was causing the maximum diameter value for the holes to be set to a negative number when the support was placed near the shape border.
  • It is now checked that the entire support hole is inside the glass shape and respect the margin from the edges.
  • The application now prevents the user to place supports that overlap (partially or totally) with each other, which was an unwanted behaviour.
  • Corrected some checks on the support's position validity which didn't work properly with concave shapes.
  • Fixed editing state of the spacers and silicone supports tables rows, which weren't returning to normal state after selecting another row if a value had been changed.

  • Improved image definition on the Loads section.
  • Corrected a problem that was preventing loads of Barrier type to be correctly displayed on concave shapes.

  • Solved an issue with the restrains about the number of jobs that can be analysed each hour that in some cases was blocking completely the analysis execution for specific jobs.
  • Analysis Errors solved:
    • The given key 'x' was not present in the dictionary The error was caused by the presence of both support holes and support points with spring type constraints.
  • Solver:
    • Improved solver stability by fixing a critical bug where "fixing on holes" caused system instability and prevented the solver from reaching a valid solution.
• Report issues
  • Removed the climate loads list from the report when no cavity is present in the glass.
  • Now, when a load type isn't applied to the glass, that's marked in the report, instead of just having a blank paragraph.
  • Solved an issue which sometimes was causing the report creation's log to not disappear after the report had been created.
• Other issues
  • Now, when saving a job, if analysis results have been invalidated by a change and a previous result was saved, the saved result will be deleted. This allows to avoid mismatching between the saved job data and the saved result.
  • Fixed a bug that was preventing to delete any file or folder after attempting to delete a folder that was not empty.
  • Implemented the area and layer number restrictions checks that were missing.
  • Removed the "Free professional use" panel, used to register an organization account, in the Home page after the login.

  • Removed axis from the glass view to improve supports visibility.
• Loads changes
  • Maximum duration value for loads is now set to 50 years.
  • Changed the activation policy for the Snow Load. Now the user can always choose to add it to the combination by setting a value higher than 0, then the solver will handle the decision process of choosing which faces will be subjected to the load, based on the glass inclination.
  • Barrier loads Y position now will be set to half the glass height by default on creation.
